Together with residents and businesses, the City of Sydney is committed to reducing the amount of waste that goes to landfill and leading Sydney towards becoming a zero waste community.
The challenge is to start thinking differently about waste. The City of Sydney is responding with a range of educational programs so that everyone who lives or visits the city has the power to: Avoid, reuse and recycle.
Zero waste doesn't mean zero garbage. The idea is to use the rubbish we generate more productively so that anything that can be, is reused, and nothing goes to waste.
A great example of Zero Waste in action is Mother Nature. In the natural world, there is no such thing as waste. Everything is recycled and reused, over and over again.
