By entering your drawing(s) into the competition by the City of Sydney, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

  1. Competition entry
    1. The entry must be an original drawing by a child residing in the Sydney metropolitan area between the ages of 5 and 12 years.
    2. You must have the consent of your parent or guardian on your completed entry form to enter.
    3. Your parent or guardian must read and agree to your completed entry form and the terms and conditions for your entry to be considered.
    4. If selected as a winner, your parent or guardian consents to the City of Sydney publishing your first name and age, alongside your drawing as part of the Sydney Lunar Festival marketing campaign.
    5. If selected as a winner, and where requested by the City of Sydney, your parent or guardian consents to you and your parent or guardian:
      1. participating in any related media events as part of the festival marketing campaigns
      2. providing comments about the drawing and competition
      3. being photographed
      4. having these comments and photographs published and communicated in media articles, the City of Sydney’s social media channels or any medium used as part of the festival marketing campaign.
    6. Your parent or guardian must accompany you when attending festival related marketing campaign activities, including those described above in clause 1(e).
    7. The City of Sydney will exhibit selected drawings as part of the Sydney Lunar Festival marketing campaign.
    8. Inclusion of any drawings into the festival marketing campaign is subject to selection by the judging panel. The decision of the panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
    9. Children of employees and Council representatives of the City of Sydney and their immediate families are ineligible to enter.
    10. The City of Sydney reserves the right to cancel or amend this competition or these terms and conditions without prior notice.
  2. Competition period
    1. Commences: 9am (Sydney time) Thursday 19 August 2021.
    2. Ends: 5pm (Sydney time) Monday13 September 2021.
  3. Entry requirements
    1. The City of Sydney is looking for fun and playful drawings of tigers that are:
      1. celebrating the Lunar New Year and holding a lucky red envelope or a lantern
      2. hungry and eating your favourite Asian dish – think noodles, sushi or dumplings
      3. thirsty – drinking a bubble tea or sipping from a coconut
      4. performing – think anything from dancing to juggling or singing
      5. happy and friendly – smiling, waving, poking its tongue out or laughing
      6. fierce and strong – for example lifting weights or roaring.
    2. Drawings must be in be colour.
    3. The tiger drawing must be drawn in portrait orientation. A3 paper is preferred but A4 is acceptable.
    4. Entries can be drawn with any medium including pencils, paint, crayons and the like, or electronically, for example, Adobe Illustrator or similar.
    5. The tiger drawing must not have any background colour or background artwork.
    6. Each drawing must be accompanied with a short description about the tiger (no more than 40 words).
    7. You can enter up to 3 illustrations, choosing from the actions listed in clause 3(a).
  4. How submissions will be judged
    1. Drawings with the most creativity and practicality of being reproduced for marketing purposes will win and have their drawing included in the Sydney Lunar Festival marketing campaign.
    2. This is a game of skill, chance plays no part in determining the winners.
    3. A judging panel will shortlist and select the winners of the festival competition.
    4. The decision of the judging panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into with respect for the competition.
  5. Winners notification
    1. Winners will be notified by phone and email by a representative of the City of Sydney.
    2. Winners will have 24 hours to confirm original hard-copy drawings can be mailed to the City of Sydney. If the prize winner fails to confirm this within this time period, the City of Sydney may in its absolute discretion award the prize to a runner up. 
    3. Original hard-copy drawings must be received by the City of Sydney within 1 week of notification. If the prize winner fails to confirm this within this time period, the City of Sydney may in its absolute discretion award the prize to a runner up. 
  6. Prizes
    1. 6 winners will each receive a $150 gift card from Riot Art & Craft.
  7. Copyright and moral rights

    You and your parent or guardian:

    1. warrants that you are the owner of all copyright in the drawing or have obtained all necessary approvals to permit the use of the drawing in the competition
    2. agree to indemnify the City of Sydney for any breaches of the above warranties
    3. grants the City of Sydney the right to:
      1. maintain a digital and hardcopy of the drawing
      2. enlarge and adapt the drawing to fit the various collateral pieces required for the marketing campaign or Sydney Lunar Festival installation or activation
      3. a royalty free, perpetual, exclusive and irrevocable licence to use the drawing for whatever purpose
      4. reproduce, publish and communicate the drawing (or any part of it) in any media format, including but not limited to advertisements, street banners, postcards, brochures, posters, television/print media, website, merchandise, apparel and annual reports for the purposes of:
        1. marketing, publicity and promotion of the Sydney Lunar Festival
        2. the catalogue, publicity and promotion of the drawing competition
        3. creating a non-commercial archive of the competition
    4. grants the City of Sydney and competition sponsors an irrevocable licence for worldwide unlimited use of your entry in perpetuity for any purpose
    5. grants the City of Sydney, if you are selected as a winner, the right to publish and communicate the comments and photographs described in clause 1(d) above in media articles, the City of Sydney’s social media channels or any medium used as part of the festival marketing campaign
    6. acknowledges that the City of Sydney will use its best endeavours to acknowledge you in all marketing for the competition as the creator of the drawing.
  8. Disclaimer and release
    1. The City of Sydney accepts no liability for any claims of intellectual property infringement of moral rights related to their entry.
    2. Your parent or guardian releases the City of Sydney and its partners from any claim with respect to infringement and moral rights related to your entry.
    3. Your parent or guardian will not be entitled to claim compensation for any damages to the original drawing while in the care of the City of Sydney or the competition production team and contractors.
  9. Privacy

    The personal information requested will only be used for the purpose of providing and marketing the Sydney Lunar Festival 2022– Year of the Tiger drawing competition. Access to the information is restricted to City of Sydney employees and other authorised personnel, however the first name and age of each winner of the competition, will be published and communicated alongside their drawing as part of the related festival marketing campaign. The images and comments of the winner and their parent or guardian may also be published and communicated to the public. The supply of this information is voluntary. If you are unwilling to provide this information, the City of Sydney may be unable to provide access to this competition.
