Proposed heritage listings on Darlinghurst Road

Proposed heritage listings on Darlinghurst Road

Following public consultation, Council approved this amendment to the Sydney LEP 2012. The sites were heritage listed on 29 November 2019.

We invite your feedback on the proposed heritage listing of 3 buildings on Darlinghurst Road, Kings Cross.

The proposed listings include:

  • Kingsley Hall at 1A Elizabeth Bay Road
  • the façade of The Bourbon at 22–24 Darlinghurst Road
  • The Empire at 32–32A Darlinghurst Road.

The listing of The Empire is for social significance only.

The proposed heritage listings are intended to protect the area’s significant social, cultural and historical value, and conserve the buildings that contribute to the area’s heritage significance.

The proposed heritage listings relate to a draft development control plan for Darlinghurst Road, Kings Cross.

We will consider all submissions and report the results to Council and the Central Sydney Planning Committee.

If Council approves this planning proposal after public exhibition, it will forward the planning proposal to the NSW Department of Planning to be finalised.
