Improving James Hilder Reserve, Surry Hills

Improving James Hilder Reserve, Surry Hills

Closed

Thank you for your feedback. In response, we revised the concept design, which was approved by Council.

We plan to upgrade the playground and add a new fitness station at James Hilder Reserve in Surry Hills and invite your feedback on the proposed design. The proposed upgrade includes a new playground, shade structure and fitness station.

In the next 10 years, we will upgrade more than 60 parks across the City of Sydney area, from small pocket parks to larger local parks.

Quality green open spaces are a high priority for our residents, workers and visitors. These park upgrades will create better quality open spaces for everyone to enjoy, help keep our city cooler, and support biodiversity in our local areas.

The proposal for James Hilder Reserve will:

  • maintain the open grass and protect mature trees
  • create a new paved forecourt entry into the park from Campbell Street
  • provide new play equipment including a new double swing set, play structure, double seesaw, and scooter track
  • include planting in the playspace to provide a sensory play experience
  • provide a new shade structure, fence, sitting wall and seating
  • provide new trees and plants
  • create a new fitness station.

We will remove 2 small trees to allow space for the new playground and replace these with 9 new feature trees.
