Proposal to heritage list 82–84 Dixon Street, Haymarket

Under review

Contributions to this consultation are closed for evaluation and review. The project team will report back on key outcomes.

We invite your feedback on a planning proposal to list 82–84 Dixon Street, Haymarket as a local heritage item to recognise its significance as part of the Chinese-Australian heritage of Sydney. This includes the former Kwong War Chong & Co building and its interiors and contents.

A local heritage listing identifies places with heritage value worthy of retention for the benefit of current and future generations.

Where the building and its contents are heritage-listed, any heritage impacts of new uses and associated alterations, removal or relocation of listed features are assessed through a development application process.

If the building is heritage-listed in line with this planning proposal, the landowner will have the opportunity to seek a heritage floor space award for 84 Dixon Street.

This planning proposal will not change any other planning controls for this site.
