Proposal to make The Rope Walk Park in Waterloo off-leash for dogs

Under review

Contributions to this consultation are closed for evaluation and review. The project team will report back on key outcomes.

We invite your feedback on a proposal to make the lawn areas of The Rope Walk Park off-leash for dogs. We have developed this proposal in response to community requests.

We propose to allow dogs to be off-leash at all times on the lawn areas. Dogs would still be prohibited from the playground. Park signs would be updated to show off-leash areas and areas where dogs are prohibited.

The Rope Walk Park is made up of 3 landscaped sections along Sam Sing Street between Thread Lane and O’Dea Avenue. It includes open grass areas, garden beds and a children’s playground.

The park section between Dunkerley Place and O’Dea Avenue is under construction and expected to open in early 2020.

This proposal is part of the City’s work with our communities to promote responsible dog ownership and ensure parks remain accessible, safe and clean.

This work is informed by our companion animals policy.
