Proposed changes for busking in Sydney

Proposed changes for busking in Sydney

Under review

Contributions to this consultation are closed for evaluation and review. The project team will report back on key outcomes.

We invite your feedback on proposed changes to our busking policy and guidelines.

We want to make it easier to busk in Sydney and clarify the rules that apply to busking. We are proposing a new policy that aims to:

  • support a greater variety of busking and buskers in more locations across the city
  • address the most common concerns residents and businesses have about busking.

The proposed policy has been developed as part of our live music and performance action plan, in consultation with buskers and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural practitioners. We are now seeking community feedback.

Consultation sessions

Buskers and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural practitioners are invited to a consultation session about the proposed changes. The sessions will be held at Town Hall House, 456 Kent Street, Sydney (level 4, Marconi Room) on:

  • Saturday 6 October – 10.30am to midday
  • Thursday 11 October – 10.30am to midday
  • Wednesday 17 October – 5.30pm to 7pm.

A consultation session for retailers will be held at the same venue on Wednesday 24 October from 5.30pm to 7pm.
