Make a difference

Be part of our program for young civic leaders.

Application form

If you’re aged between 18 and 24 and want to make a difference, the Y-Vote – Emerging Civic Leaders program could be for you.

The program is for young, passionate and powerful people that want to make an impact on our future.

We call on applicants who are passionate about leading social change in the community, can demonstrate a commitment as an emerging civic leader and live, work or study in the City of Sydney area.

Delivered in partnership with Y Vote, the course brings together some of Australia’s leading young entrepreneurs, communicators and social change leaders to share their top tips with emerging civic leaders.

During the course, you’ll:

  • organise a Pledge to Vote campaign to help ensure young voices are heard in the upcoming elections
  • develop practical skills you can apply to your study and career
  • have the opportunity to put your civic leadership skills into practice and participate in the development of a new strategic plan for Sydney to 2050.

The course will take place between February and April 2019. You’ll be required to attend 1 morning session on Saturday 23 February and then a 1 to 2 hour commitment per fortnight for the remaining 8 weeks. The course is free of charge, as the City of Sydney will sponsor successful applicants participation.
