SydLunar community performance program

Expressions of interest

Want to perform as part of the Sydney Lunar Festival? We're inviting performers to be part of the community performance program to help us celebrate the Year of the Pig in 2019.

To be part of the official festival program, groups must specialise in highly choreographed performances (traditional and contemporary).

Your group or performance must celebrate the Lunar New Year, celebrate one of the cultures that observe the Lunar New Year or celebrate the Year of the Pig.

Successful groups will be paid $500 for their involvement in the festival.

Opportunities are available for different types of performances either on a stage at Circular Quay or through the heart of Chinatown as a roving performance in Dixon Street Mall. You can submit applications for both if you have suitable performances.

Submit your expression of interest now!

Applications close on Sunday 21 October 2018.

Message from the festival curator

Lunar New Year is one of the world’s most celebrated festivals. It’s an event that has been embraced by Sydneysiders with over 1.3 million people attending festival events this year alone.

We would love to showcase the talents of your performers. These cultural events are a cornerstone of the festival and are enjoyed by so many members of the community.

Next year is the Year of the Pig and we’re committed to creating a dynamic and lively program that brings together the many artistic talents in the community. It’s set to be a celebration of colour and energy!

We would love to include performers who are passionate about sharing their culture. If you feel you can bring your unique stories to life with your performance group, we’d love to hear from you.

We look forward to receiving your submission.
