Councillor Scully cherishes daily walk

Balancing multiple jobs in Sydney’s vibrant creative sector and her role as a City of Sydney Councillor, Jess Scully is always on the move.

But it’s her daily commute from Glebe that allows her to slow down and reset for the day ahead.

“I live 3 km from the city centre, and I feel so lucky that I can walk to and from work,” says Councillor Scully.

“It’s my one chance in the day to clear my mind, listen to a podcast and just look around and appreciate our beautiful city.”

When she’s not curating, campaigning or creating, the Councillor loves to explore her local area.

“Glebe is one of the city’s most vibrant villages. One of my favourite things to do it walk along the Glebe foreshore, before stopping off at Sappho Books on Glebe Point Road,” she says.

“I think it’s really important for us to make walking around our villages comfortable and enjoyable. The more people who use active modes of transport like walking and riding, the less cars congesting our roads.

“The city is growing more connected in so many ways, including fantastic new walking routes like the Glebe foreshore and the city’s street-art filled laneways.”
