Music for everyone

Our music collections have something for everyone.

You can borrow as many as 30 items free for up to 3 weeks, or stream and download music online.

CDs

You can choose from over 9,000 titles listed in our online catalogue.

The collection covers a vast range of music styles and genres including:

  • country
  • chamber music
  • classical
  • instrumentals
  • opera
  • pop
  • rhythm and blues
  • world music.

Scores

The sheet music collection includes classical and contemporary scores.

Items in this collection are available for loan from the Customs House branch.

Stream and download

Library members can stream and download music online.

Freegal Music provides access to over 13 million songs from over 40,000 labels including the Sony Music catalogue, with music that comes from over 100 countries.

There is no software to download and there are no digital rights management restrictions.

How to stream and download

1. Login to Freegal Music

  • Visit the City's emusic portal.
  • Click login in the top right corner.
  • Enter your library card number with no spaces and type in your PIN or password.
  • Click login.

First time users will be asked to accept the terms and conditions and a short step-by-step guide will be displayed.

2. Find emusic to stream or download

Browse, search or use the genre tab to find emusic to stream or download.

  • Browse top albums, top singles, music videos, most popular, new releases, genres or A to Z.
  • Find emusic through the search box or the advanced search function.

3. Stream and download emusic

You can stream or download emusic in a number of ways:

Click on stream now or press the play button to stream music. Click on the download button to download music.

The weekly download limit is 3 songs a week and 5 hours streaming a day. You can keep track of your downloads in the upper right corner. Music videos account for 2 of your allotted downloads.

Downloads are all in MP3 format and videos are in MP4 format with no digital rights management restrictions.
