Green Square Library

The award-winning Green Square Library opened in September 2018. The innovative underground library is located in the plaza in the heart of the Green Square, next to the train station.

The striking design includes a subterranean garden, an open air amphitheatre and a 6-storey glass tower.

The main library level includes large open spaces, study desks, public use computers, dedicated children’s area and meeting rooms for hire.

In the tower you’ll find a light filled and quiet reading room space.

A range of rooms are available for programs and to hire including a music room with a baby grand piano and computer lab.

The library shares the same location with the Green Square Customer Service Centre.

    Stories are read aloud in both English and Mandarin to support literacy development, foster a love of reading and provide a wonderful cultural exchange.

    Bookings are not required, but session numbers are limited to 50 participants per session.

  • Code Club: MIT Scratch for beginners

    Bring your keen coders to our free 4-week coding series.

    They’ll gain confidence using the coding environment, MIT Scratch, and find out how to build games and animations. Watch them grow their competence by adding new skills and concepts each week to build on previous activities.

    MIT Scratch offers a fun introduction to block coding – encouraging creative thinking, systematic reasoning and collaboration.

    These hands-on workshops run for 1 hour each week and are suitable for 9 to 12 year olds with no prior experience necessary.

    Places are free, however, you must book in and attend for all sessions. The workshops have a capacity of 6, so bookings are recommended.

    Everything is provided, and parents or guardians need to stay in the library during Code Club.
