Share bike parking areas

We support safe, sustainable and accessible transport options, including share bikes. To address concerns around footpath clutter and improve public spaces, we’ve designated share bike parking areas in key locations across our area.

Share bike parking areas, either on footpaths or on the street, are places where you’re encouraged to end your trip.

These areas are integrated into share bike apps. If a share bike is parked outside these zones, the trip may not be recognised as complete and additional charges or penalties may apply.

A full list of designated bike parking areas is available on our interactive map, updated monthly.

How it works

  • Operators: Share bike companies enforce parking rules on their apps.
  • Users: People riding are guided to park in designated zones.

On-street bike parking

We’ve set up bike parking in no parking and no stopping zones.

These locations are chosen where we’ve seen, or been told about, ongoing issues with bikes being left on footpaths.

As it’s already illegal to park cars in these spots, no car parking spaces are lost.

Proposed locations

Potential locations are included in the agenda for the upcoming Local Pedestrian, Cycling and Traffic Calming Committee.
