The NSW Government is assessing new residential development applications and rezonings.
The NSW Government set up the Housing Delivery Authority to accelerate housing supply. It aims to streamline planning approvals and fast-track large-scale residential developments.
Developers with major housing projects of more than $60 million or 100 dwellings can apply to the Housing Delivery Authority for their project to be recognised as ‘state significant’.
When a project is declared as state significant development it’s assessed and determined by the NSW Government. It bypasses the local council development application process.
Projects progressed through the Housing Delivery Authority can include a concurrent rezoning application to change the planning controls applying to the land.
