Apply for community spaces at Glebe Town Hall

We own a range of community buildings and spaces across the local area.

Through our accommodation grants program, we lease spaces for up to 5 years at reduced rent. In some cases, we may offer longer tenancies where there is strong public and community benefit.

Council reviews its strategic priorities every 4 years, and these priorities guide how tenancies are offered.

Spaces are allocated through a competitive expression of interest process as they become available. If you’re interested in future opportunities, sign up to our mailing list.

To apply, you must show that paying full commercial rent would create financial hardship and reduce or stop services to priority communities.

• Improved social wellbeing, reduced isolation and increased cultural participation.
• Increased services by community and cultural organisations that benefit residents, workers and visitors, and contribute to the social, cultural, economic and environmental health.
• Enhanced financial sustainability for local organisations including artists.
• Greater public participation in arts and creative projects.
• Greater sharing of knowledge and resources by new and emerging groups, increasing the capacity and viability of the business and community sectors.
• Active solutions to sector-wide issues and provision of direct services by newly established and start-up businesses and organisations that benefit our communities.

Proposals are assessed against:

• the need for the tenancy and proposed results
• your capacity and experience
• connection and benefit to the local area and communities
• connection with local community and cultural organisations
• diversity, inclusion and equity in the planning and development of the project
• how the proposal aligns with the funding priorities.

You must operate within the City of Sydney’s local area or be able to show clear benefits for local residents, workers or visitors.

These individuals and organisations can apply:

• eligible not-for-profit organisation
• incorporated association
• corporation
• co-operative
• partnership
• sole trader
• trustee of a trust
• government entity.

For-profit entities can apply.

All applicants must show that paying standard commercial rent would cause financial hardship.
