Why we’re doing this

Significant change is planned for the city north precinct, following recent changes to the Central Sydney planning strategy and the development of 2 new Metro stations. Several large planning proposals are also reshaping the precinct.

These changes will increase demands on public spaces and streets, particularly in the Hunter Street precinct, which is the area bounded by George Street, Bridge Street, Macquarie Street and Martin Place.

The street is paved for people walking with seats under large trees, surrounded by tall buildings. Many people are walking round through the pedestrianised area.

What we’re doing

The revised plan provides a vision for the city north precinct including new opportunities to improve several streets and spaces. These include Hunter Street, Spring Street, O’Connell Street, Bligh Street, Loftus Street and Gresham Street.
