What we’re doing

We propose to change the planning controls for 580 George Street, Sydney.

In the proposal the maximum floor space ratio will be increased to 15.1:1, providing a further 8,000 square metres of new employment floor space. No change to the building height is proposed.

These changes will allow for a new 10-storey office building on the site, including ground floor retail on Bathurst and George streets. The existing office tower and walking connection to Town Hall station will be retained.

Next steps

After feedback closes, we’ll report to Council and the Central Sydney Planning Committee. If Council approves this planning proposal, it can amend the Sydney Local Environment Plan 2012 on behalf of the Minister for Planning and Public Spaces.
