What we’re doing

We plan to upgrade Green Bans Park in Erskineville.

Last year, we asked our communities how they want to use this space. This feedback has helped us develop our proposed design which includes:

  • an upgraded playground
  • new nature play areas
  • more seating and picnic tables
  • an upgraded path through the park
  • improved garden and turf areas
  • an upgraded footpath along Albert Street.

There are 6 trees in the park that will need to be removed: 3 are in poor health and 3 are weed species (Chinese hackberry). On Albert Street, we also need to remove 2 trees and the garden beds that are being crowded and shaded by the large fig tree listed on our register of significant trees. We’ll replace the 8 trees that need to be removed with 9 new trees, including 8 in the park and one on Albert Street.

No works are planned in the southern part of the park, south of Albert Street.

Why we’re doing this

Over the next 10 years, we’ll upgrade more than 60 parks in our area, from small pocket parks to larger local parks.

We’re asking for feedback from local community groups and residents on the concept design. Tell us how you use the space, what works, what doesn’t and share any ideas you have for its future.

How you can give feedback

Consultation closes at 5pm on Thursday 30 April 2026.
