What we’re doing
We plan to install a basketball hoop at Federal Park in Annandale.
The proposal includes:
- basketball hoop and hardcourt
- seating
- trees
- timed court lighting.
We propose to use a specialised backboard product and court tile surface, both designed to absorb impact and reduce noise.
Lighting at the basketball hoop will match the skate park and turn off at 9pm.
We also propose to increase the height of the northern fence on the synthetic sports field to 7m. This will match the height of the southern side.
Our open space, sports and recreation needs study found a shortfall in facilities and highlighted the need for new ones. We want to provide quality public spaces and have received community requests to provide a basketball hoop in the area.
