What we’re doing

We propose to plant 15 new native trees and palms between Lincoln Crescent and Forbes Street in Woolloomooloo. They’ll add to our urban forest, providing shade and cooling, while the garden beds will support healthy tree growth, reduce stormwater runoff and enhance the unique beauty of this waterfront precinct.

Street furniture will be adjusted to suit the new layout. The 2 litter bins will be relocated, more bench seating will be installed and a designated share bike parking area is proposed to manage end of trip setdowns.

The taxi rank and 5P parking area in front of the Finger Wharf is to be maintained, with clear access to vehicles through a series of separated garden beds set back from the kerb and new pram ramp.

We also propose to remove 5 Port Jackson figs in poor health from the northern side of the roadway. They’ve been unable to establish as large healthy trees due to localised poor soils, which will be improved as part of these works.

Why we’re doing this

Our Greening Sydney strategy has clear targets for increasing canopy cover across our local area for a cooler and more resilient city. This area has been identified as an opportunity for more canopy cover.
