New pedestrian crossing works at Sydney Park

Improvements include traffic signals, new pathways and landscaping near the cycling centre.

Project Status: Completed

What we’re doing

We’ve started work on a pedestrian crossing with traffic signals, new pathways and new landscaping near the Sydney Park Cycling Centre. This work will complete an upgrade for the area.

The new pedestrian crossing will provide a better and safer connection between Sydney Park, Erskineville and the Ashmore precinct. It will also link the park entry with the children’s bike track and Sydney skate park. View the area of the works below.

We’ve removed 7 small broad-leaf paperbark trees along Sydney Park Road to make space for 4 new traffic light poles and allow a clear sightline to the traffic lights.

When works are finished, we’ll plant 7 new broad-leaf paperbark trees in Sydney Park along Sydney Park Road.

Works include:

  • a pedestrian crossing with traffic signals
  • new concrete pathways connecting the toilet block to Sydney Park Road
  • landscaping with new trees and ground cover.

Works are expected to be completed in mid 2021, weather permitting.

Our contractor QMC Pty Ltd started work in early January 2020. Work will take place from 7am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday, and 7.30am to 3.30pm on Saturday.

The work requires road closures and work on the pedestrian crossing will take place at night. There may be some noise at night and footpaths will be closed temporarily on each side of Sydney Park Road. We will take steps to minimise any impacts.
