Oxford Street, Darlinghurst

Revitalising City-owned buildings

After a successful expression of interest campaign, the City of Sydney has agreed to lease our 3 Oxford Street properties for 99 years to a major real estate investment group.

The Ashe Morgan group will rejuvenate the properties at 56–76, 82–106 and 110–122 Oxford Street, Darlinghurst, subject to the necessary approvals.

The project is expected to activate more than 12,000 square metres of floor space for a diverse range of uses, with the potential of bringing hundreds of jobs to the area.

Ashe Morgan recognises that Oxford Street is unique and home to an eclectic mix of independent and creative businesses.

Its vision is for a place that is not overdeveloped, but retains its human scale, pays homage to the past and stands the test of time. This rejuvenation also aims to encourage further investment along Oxford Street.

Leasing and selling properties helps the City fund community assets and services for our growing city. These include parks, public spaces, facilities, infrastructure, events and services. This makes our city more vibrant, liveable and enjoyable for everyone.

Our creative spaces program

Our creative spaces program provides affordable workspaces to creative businesses and artists. This is an important part of our work in creating a lively and liveable city for everyone.

The City has ensured that affordable creative spaces are part of the new agreement with Ashe Morgan. This is in line with our Creative City cultural policy and action plan.
