Community facilities and venues for hire

Cliff Noble Centre is a local community centre with a variety of activities and programs. It is also available for hire outside of business hours.

The Joynton Park Community Kiosk, the Green Square Community Hall and the Tote Building are some of the City of Sydney’s community venues available for hire.

107 Projects curate and manage Joynton Avenue Creative Centre, providing affordable work spaces for small creative businesses. A program of events and workshops complements accessible community facilities. There are a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces available for the community to hire through 107 Projects.

The Bower Reuse and Repair Centre runs the Banga Community Shed. It is an electronics workshop, where people can learn new skills to make or repair electronic items.

Learn about the services, programs and activities on offer at Green Square Library. The library also has a variety of rooms to book, some with audio-visual equipment.

Advocacy and action groups


Alexandria Residents’ Action Group meets monthly and works on social, educational and environmental activities. Everyone is welcome to attend.


Friends of Victoria Park is united by the desire to see Victoria Park flourish and evolve into a vibrant, sustainable, connected and creative community.


BIKESydney is a not-for-profit organisation advocating for better cycling opportunities. It organises regular social rides and gatherings, and has many volunteer opportunities.

Interest groups

The Green Square Growers network shares knowledge about growing food at home and in public places. The group supports community garden beds in Tote Park and Joynton Park. They meet on the second Sunday of each month from 11.30am to 1.30pm at Joynton Park.

The Green Square Strata Network holds regular meetings with building and strata managers, owners and tenants of strata apartment buildings. Members share best practice advice and innovative solutions to create sustainable vertical communities. They meet every second month on a Tuesday from 6pm to 8pm at the Tote Building.

1st Alexandria Scouts is a group of local volunteers who meet at the Alexandria Scout Hall. Scouting is a great way to spend time outdoors, learn new skills and meet new people. Contact Sandra Kemp at or 0410 331 685.

Friendship Bridge provides an informal social network for Chinese residents in Green Square. The group meets every day at 9am in Mary O’Brien Reserve, Zetland, for exercise including qigong. They also get together for pot luck meals and other social activities.

Green Square Bonsai Club meets at 7pm every second Tuesday at the Green Square Community Hall. Email or contact Bryan on 0432 461 025.

Old Friends Singers Group celebrates Indonesian culture during weekly gatherings with karaoke, traditional food and line dancing. They meet every Monday from 10.30am to 3pm at the Green Square Community Hall.

The Piecemakers sewing group makes quilts for people in need using donated fabrics. They meet at Green Square Community Hall on the third Wednesday of the month from 9am to 4pm. Skills are taught and materials supplied. Contact Diana on 0419 680 279.

Wrap with Love distributes handmade knitted and crocheted blankets. Join a knitting group or volunteer at the Alexandria warehouse where the blankets are packed and shipped around the world.

Green Square Customer Service Centre is co-located with the Green Square Library in Green Square Plaza at 355 Botany Road, Zetland. It is a customer service centre for the City of Sydney.

We're building Gunyama Park Aquatic and Recreation Centre and the Drying Green along with the new Green Square town centre. The wider Green Square area will eventually have more than 40 other smaller parks.

Construction works on Gunyama Park Aquatic and Recreation Centre are in progress. It will be the largest pool complex in Sydney since the 2000 Olympics.

Transport services

Trains run to and from Green Square station on the T2 Airport and South Line. The station is on the corner of Botany Road and O’Riordan Street, Alexandria.

There is also a range of apps to assist with planning and using public transport including local bus routes.

Free community transport

The Village to Village bus is a free hop-on, hop-off service available every Thursday and Friday.

The orange shuttle connects residents from Green Square, Alexandria, Erskineville and Newtown. It stops at key sites including Green Square Library, Victoria Park Pool, Broadway Shopping Centre and Sydney Fish Market.
