Let's Talk Business Seminar Series
The City of Sydney proudly presented its first Let’s Talk Business series during March - June 2008, covering a range of key topics critical to small and medium sized businesses wanting to maximise their potential in our fast paced, global city.
Featuring expert, renowned and respected speakers, these seminars were an opportunity to take away valuable information, and to network with like-minded businesspeople.
The four seminars were designed to complement each other and to work separately.
Our first, Your Business, Your City, Your Future, held on Tuesday 25 March was a resounding success. Lord Mayor Clover Moore MP gave insights into how the City is planning its future, along with entrepreneur Siimon Reynolds, who engaged the audience with examples of his extensive experience.
Seminar 1 in the Let's Talk Business Series
Siimon Reynolds draws the audience into his world of persistence, belief, vision and action, getting them thinking about the business they really want to be in the future.
Seminar Two - Marketing Matters.
At this fascinating seminar, Speakers Dr Kim Houghton & Linda Hailey studied the local market trends, imparting practical information to assist business owners to make the most of all marketing opportunities available to them.
Economist Dr Kim Houghton is well known for his insights into trends and his practical approach to the numbers game of statistics. Small business author and presenter, Linda Hailey has a reputation for taking the mystery out of marketing with her 'no nonsense' approach to growing small business. The two presented an enlightening journey into the wonders of statistics, challenging some general assumptions.
Their commonsense, jargon free approach to economic, social, business and population trends helped our seminar attendees think further about achieving marketing and business success in 2008 and beyond!
Seminar Three - Technology Today
On Tuesday, May 27, over a hundred interested small business owners and operators listened intently as speaker Kevan Baker presented easy to understand information about the business of doing business online - outlining simple steps to assist them make the most of their online presence, including:

Seminar Four - Connect with People and Build Relationships
The real key to your success is people, and they are all around you! Our four presenters on June 24 outlined and provided an overview on how to get staff motivated, deal with difficult customers and lock in loyal suppliers.
