In 2008 the Sydney New Year's Eve celebrations linked us all together with Creation. The 1.5 million spectators witnessed a creation storm brewing throughout the evening which culminated in a magical, universal and beautiful fireworks display to welcome in the New Year. The Bridge Effect started as an evening star and progressively transformed to reveal a full radiant sun upon the dawn of a New Year.
The Time of Our Lives delivered the most stunning Harbour Bridge Effect and fireworks display ever seen, watched by over one million people around the harbour and millions more around the world.
A Diamond Night in Emerald City enthralled people across the world as we ushered in the 75th Anniversary Year of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Heart of the Harbour formed the centrepiece for the 2005 Sydney New Year's Eve, transforming Sydney's iconic Harbour Bridge as the focus point of the night's celebrations - seen by millions worldwide.
For 2004 the Sydney Harbour Bridge became the focus with internationally renowned sculpture Neil Dawson’s installation Reflections. An extraordinary piece of sculpture suspended for one month to create light waves flitting between the Bridge and the water, which stirred a million reflections.
2003 saw Sydney become the City of Light. 16 Buildings around the CBD were lit up on New Year's Eve and stayed alight for 18 days in January with the centrepiece being the spectacular Sydney Harbour Bridge light show.
120 beacons of light bounced from the bridge to the water below to a fantastic pop music soundtrack.

Sydney sent its message to the world with a breath-taking burst of fireworks, an animated dove and the word PEACE on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, capturing the theme for 2002 Sydney New Year's Eve, Celebration in Unity.
2001
2001 Sydney New Year’s Eve looked forward to the Year of the Outback, and towards the end of that year, with bushfires raging throughout NSW, and close to the City, we celebrated our courage and spirit in the face of adversity.
2000
In 2000 we celebrated the Centenary of Federation with 100 years as a Nation, millions of years as a land, as demonstrated by the images of the rainbow spirit and federation star on the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
1999
1999 Sydney New Year's Eve celebrated the Millennium, and paid tribute to the city of Sydney, exemplified in the wonderful sea creatures on the Sydney Harbour, and that unique Sydney icon, 'Eternity' on the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
