What we’re doing

We’re building a new street and cycleway that will connect Geddes Avenue in the Green Square town centre with Bowden Street in Alexandria. It will also link to Botany Road, O’Riordan Street and Bourke Road.

The review of environmental factors for this project was open for comment in 2017. Following this process we’ve made several changes to the original proposal and invite your feedback on the revised review of environmental factors.

The revised proposal allows for the road to be used by local and emergency vehicles only, also public transport, pedestrians and cyclists. Other private vehicles will not be able to use this street.

By prioritising walking, riding and public transport, this transport link will provide an important and attractive east-west connection for people, while also discouraging traffic in Sydney’s densest area.

The review of environmental factors for the revised scope of work covers:

  • engineering, environmental and planning factors
  • design and operational requirements
  • construction impacts and risk mitigation strategies
  • impacts on flora and fauna
  • legislative requirements and approvals.
The new street will run from the intersection of Geddes Avenue and Botany Road, crossing at O’Riordan Street to the intersection of Bourke Road and Bowden Street.
