Frasers Broadway (formerly CUB site)

Frasers Property Australia purchased the former CUB site from the Foster’s Group on Friday 29 June 2007.

In February 2007 the concept plan was approved by the Minister for Planning and included new parklands, community facilities and upgrades to urban infrastructure.  The approved concept plan can be viewed by visiting Frasers Broadway

Frasers have a dedicated community liaison officer, Graeme Soward, to act as a first point of call for residents who have any enquiries.  Graeme can be contacted on 1800 282 909 or email community@frasersgreencliff.com.

18 February 2007 Council resolved to approve the permanent closure of Balfour Street to traffic, between O’Connor and Wellington Streets, Chippendale to provide a new pocket park.  The closure will eliminate potential through-traffic and provide needed open space in Chippendale.  The closure is consistent with the proposed future redevelopment of Frasers Broadway and will enhance pedestrian safety and amenity for the area. An interim closure will be implemented shortly.  Community consultation will be undertaken to determine the final design of the park.

Frasers is currently carrying out pre-construction building surveys on neighbouring properties within a 50 metre radius of the site.  The surveys are designed to make sure site works do not adversely impact on neighbouring properties.  Participation in the survey is optional.  Residents can contact Graeme Soward 1800 282 909 to set up a time for the survey – they take approximately 30 minutes.

From January to April, Frasers is undertaking decommissioning activities on the site, including disconnection / isolation of services and removal of external items such as pipes.  Some other site activities relate to preliminary investigations regarding possible soil contamination and archaeological reviews.

Demolition is scheduled to commence once approval is granted by the NSW Department of Planning. Frasers will notify neighbouring properties when demolition works will begin.

Council successfully negotiated an agreement with Fosters to complete the public park in the earlier stages of development (December 2010), contribute to Community facilities and the Balfour Street park. This agreement has now been transferred to Frasers.

Frasers are endeavouring go beyond that agreement and complete the 5,000 sq m public park ahead of schedule.
