Mitchell Road reopens
Mitchell Road in Erskineville has reopened following a shoring wall collapse at the Coronation Property site. We’re carefully monitoring the road to ensure it remains safe for traffic.
The western footpath and parking lane on Mitchell Road south of Maddox Street will remain closed due to ongoing safety and repair works. This includes the permanent relocation of the northbound bus stop (204321) opposite Maddox Street.
Bus stop relocation
A new northbound bus stop will be installed to the western side of Mitchell Road north of Maddox Street, adjacent to the Woolworths Metro.
The new bus stop will replace six on-street parking spaces. The current mobility parking space along this kerb space will be retained.
Construction is expected to start in mid-September 2026. Subject to site conditions, the relocation is expected to be completed by early October 2026, weather permitting.
In the meantime, passengers can still use the nearby Mitchell Road after Coulson Street (204323) or Erskineville Oval, Mitchell Road (204316) bus stops.
Check the Transport for NSW website for up-to-date details about bus services.
When it is safe to reopen the western footpath and parking lane on Mitchell Road south of Maddox Street, the former bus stop location will be converted to on-street parking.
This will offset the loss of parking associated with the new bus stop location.
For any questions about temporary traffic control measures please contact Coronation Property at [email protected].
Investigations into the cause of the collapse are continuing.
As this is an ongoing incident and investigation, we may need to close the road again for safety if our monitoring indicates hazardous conditions. Updates will be published here if this occurs.
Thank you for your patience.
