Planned electrical works on Mitchell Road

Electrical works are scheduled outside 155 Mitchell Road, Erskineville from 2 to 6 November, 9am to 4pm. ARA Electrical is carrying out the works.

During these works, the northbound lane of Mitchell Road between Sydney Park Road and Maddox Street will be temporarily closed. Southbound traffic will continue under traffic control and local access will be maintained.

These planned works are separate to the ongoing investigation into the earlier shoring wall collapse. Nearby residents and businesses will be notified before works start.

The proposed traffic arrangements were considered by the Local Pedestrian, Cycling, Traffic Calming and Transport Forum. 

In case of extreme weather or unforeseen delays, works may be rescheduled to 9 to 13 November.

Mitchell Road shoring wall collapse

Mitchell Road in Erskineville has reopened following a shoring wall collapse at the Coronation Property site. We’re carefully monitoring the road to ensure it remains safe for traffic.

The western footpath and parking lane on Mitchell Road south of Maddox Street will remain closed due to ongoing safety and repair works. 

The northbound bus stop (204321) opposite Maddox Street has been permanently relocated north of Maddox Street, adjacent to the Park Sydney Village shopping centre.

When it is safe to reopen the western footpath and parking lane on Mitchell Road south of Maddox Street, the former bus stop location will be converted to on-street parking. 

This will offset the loss of parking associated with the new bus stop location.

Investigations into the cause of the collapse are continuing.

As this is an ongoing incident and investigation, we may need to close the road again for safety if our monitoring indicates hazardous conditions. Updates will be published here if this occurs.
