Project Status: Planned
Work is expected to take place from March to May, weather permitting.
Why we’re doing this
Strong Memorial Fountain (also known as the cherub fountain) is the first ornamental drinking fountain to be donated to and erected in a suburban municipality or a town in New South Wales.
We’re undertaking important restorative work to help preserve this piece of public art.
What we’re doing
- The pond will be waterproofed and tiles replaced.
- The hydraulic system will be upgraded.
- The cast iron elements will be repainted.
Part of the Strong Memorial Reserve will be closed while this work takes place.
Access through Elizabeth and Watson streets will remain open.
