Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre cutting-edge design
A tribute to one of our most successful athletes, this complex features green initiatives such as hydraulically operable roof vents for natural ventilation.
Project Status: Completed
All works are finalised and the centre is open to the public.
What we’re doing
The facility has a distinctive wave-shaped roof and includes a 50m heated pool, a separate pool for more leisurely swimming, spa, steam room, café and fitness centre.
Rainwater is harvested for internal amenities such as toilets and sprinkler systems. Automated lighting reduces energy consumption.
