Meals on Wheels

Our volunteers work in pairs delivering prepared meals to our clients at home on weekdays from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

Full support is provided by a paid staff member as you work together across numerous suburbs within the City's local area.

The positions currently available are:

  • driver/helper
  • group/corporate volunteering days (Christmas and Easter).


To work in these roles you need to be:

  • able to work with people with disabilities and their carers
  • reliable and punctual
  • have good oral and written communication
  • able to work in a team environment.

Drivers need to have their own vehicle and a current driver's licence. Travel costs will be reimbursed by the City.

Successful applicants are trained in standards on:

  • food safety
  • Workplace Health and Safety (WHS)
  • Home and Community Care (HACC). 

Our volunteers play a vital role to ensure we are providing the best possible service to our residents. 

Essential requirements

You will need to provide 2 names of referees who will be contacted by phone. The City must undertake criminal history record checks on prospective Meals on Wheels volunteers.
