Works started in July 2023 and were completed in May 2026.

What we’re doing

Our upgrade will make Crown Street greener, help increase passing trade for local businesses and make it easier for people to walk and ride.

Our contractor, Sydney Civil, will install:

  • upgraded footpaths, kerbs and pedestrian ramps
  • extended footpaths to replace current pop-up alfresco dining areas
  • new garden beds, bubblers, bike racks and seating
  • around 40 more trees, increasing canopy cover by more than 50%
  • underground electrical cables, replacing timber poles and overhead cables
  • new smartpoles with LED streetlights that provide opportunities for hanging baskets and banners.

As part of the upgrade no car parking spaces will be lost on Crown Street. Instead the street will gain around 10 car parking spaces.
