About this opportunity

The broadcast partnership plays a key role in supporting a globally renowned event, known for dazzling audiences around the harbour and across the world.

We’re looking for a new broadcast partner to capture and distribute Sydney New Year’s Eve content in 2026, 2027 and 2028.

The key deliverables of the broadcast partnership are to:

  • film and broadcast the event live on a free-to-air television network in Australia that reaches the 5 major metropolitan markets at a minimum
  • distribute the event footage nationally and internationally
  • provide the filming, broadcast and distribution at no cost to the City of Sydney.

The broadcast partner will be required to synchronise the footage with soundtracks and obtain all approvals, rights and waivers including location fees and licence fees associated with the broadcast. The broadcast partner will be granted exclusive live broadcast/streaming rights.

The broadcast partner will also receive:

  • logo placement and acknowledgement on the Sydney New Year’s Eve website, the official guide and other marketing collateral
  • the opportunity to attend and speak at media calls hosted by the City of Sydney
  • the opportunity to provide an activation on the day of the event that further promotes the broadcast partner involvement.

The City of Sydney will retain creative control of the event, and the selected partner will need to enter into a contract with us.
