Upgrade works for Blackwattle Bay Playground, Glebe

We’re improving this popular neighbourhood playground to provide a greener and more pleasant space for everyone to enjoy.

Project Status: Planned

Why we’re doing this

We developed a concept plan for the park upgrade based on your feedback from our consultation in late 2020. We then modified the design and in early 2021 asked the community for feedback. The refined design was approved by Council in June 2021

What we’re doing

The upgrade includes:

  • a new play structure, swing, boat and nature play elements with a maritime theme
  • increasing the open turf grass areas
  • retaining the existing trees and adding more native plants
  • more seats and tables and a new water bubbler with dog bowl
  • repairing the existing timber stairs and decks
  • adding a new low park entry wall and clear entries from the street
  • realigning the path to the foreshore and improving the boundary edge.

We’re investigating:

  • adding a new low wall and clear entries from the street
  • building rock scrambling areas
  • adding bike racks to the footpath
  • more signs and a poo bag dispenser for dog owners
  • retaining the lighting to increase the hours of use.
