Upgrade works for the playground at Blackwattle Bay Park, Glebe
We’re improving this popular neighbourhood playground to provide a greener and more pleasant space for everyone to enjoy.
Project Status: In progress
Works started in February 2023 and are expected to take 5 months, weather permitting. Works will take place from 7:30am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday and 7:30am to 3:30pm on Saturday.
Why we’re doing this
We developed a concept plan for the park upgrade based on your feedback from our consultation in late 2020. We then modified the design and in early 2021 asked the community for feedback. The refined design was approved by Council in June 2021.
What we’re doing
The upgrade includes:
- a new play structure, swing, boat and nature play elements with a maritime theme
- increasing the open turf grass areas
- retaining the existing trees and adding more native plants
- more seats and tables and a new water bubbler with dog bowl
- repairing the existing timber stairs and decks
- realigning the path to the foreshore and improving the boundary edge
- adding bike racks to the footpath
- a poo bag dispenser for dog owners.
The playground and surrounding area will be closed during the works. The nearest playgrounds in Glebe are:
