What we’re doing
We’re proposing to introduce ticket parking on some streets in Alexandria.
The affected streets are:
- Maddox Street
- Bourke Road
- Collins Street
- Doody Street
Why we’re doing this
The parking restrictions in Maddox Street, Bourke Road, Collins Street and Doody Street consist of a mix of 1P, 1/4P, EV Parking, Loading Zones, Bus Zones and unrestricted parking.
Maddox Street, Bourke Road, Collins Street and Doody Street are in commercial areas that support various businesses. Currently, there is a high demand for parking in these streets with unrestricted parking in most of the kerbside parking spaces. This allows drivers to park for unlimited duration, decreasing parking turnover and making it difficult for other short-term visitors to find parking spaces nearby.
To improve parking turnover and improve parking opportunities for visitors, it is proposed that the existing unrestricted parking spaces in these streets to be allocated to 2P Ticket 8am-6pm Mon-Fri 4P Ticket 6pm-10pm Mon-Fri 8am-10pm Sun & Public Holidays.

Next steps
We’ll consider all submissions and report the results to the Local Pedestrian, Cycling, Traffic Calming and Transport Forum (LPCTCTF) at its meeting on Thursday 20 August. The forum’s report will be available on our website after 5pm on Thursday 13 August.
You’re welcome to address the forum at 10am in the Sydney Town Hall Council Chamber at 483 George Street, Sydney. Register by close of business on Monday 17 August with Claudia Calabro on 02 9265 9333 or at [email protected].
If the proposal doesn’t go ahead, we’ll update everyone who provides feedback. If the committee endorses the proposal, we plan to install the new parking signs within about 4 weeks of the committee’s decision.
