Your say on parking changes in Glebe

We’d like to make it easier for residents and their visitors to park close to their homes.

What we’re doing

We’re proposing to change parking rules on streets near the new Sydney Fish Market in Glebe.

Under the proposal, time-limited 2-hour parking (2P) would apply from 8am to 10pm, 7 days a week. Paid (ticket) parking would be introduced in streets closest to the Sydney Fish Market.

The affected streets are:

  • Bridge, St Johns, and Wentworth Park roads
  • Bellevue, Broughton, Cardigan, Darghan, Darling, Mitchell, Phillip, Railway, and Wentworth streets
  • Bellevue, Bridge, and Darghan lanes.

We’re aiming to make it easier for local residents to find parking and to encourage Sydney Fish Market visitors to use other ways of getting there, such as public transport, walking or cycling.

Why we’re doing this

Current parking rules on these streets vary. They include a mix of 1- and 2-hour permit parking (1P and 2P) and 2- and 4-hour paid parking (2P and 4P), and some unrestricted parking. Most of these rules only apply on weekdays from 8am to 6pm.

Locals residents have said that Sydney Fish Market visitors often park in nearby streets in the evenings and on weekends, which makes it harder for residents to find a space.

We propose extending parking restrictions so they apply from 8am to 10pm, 7 days a week. Unrestricted parking would be changed to 2-hour parking (2P), and more paid parking would be introduced on streets closest to the Sydney Fish Market.

Mobility parking spaces, car share spaces and 1-hour (1P) parking would stay the same. The proposal would not remove any existing kerbside parking spaces.
