What we’re doing

We’re planning to plant 4 leopard wood trees in the roadway of Hawksley Street. This will allow the trees to grow in enough soil, and away from overhead cables and narrow footpaths.

These trees will provide shade and contribute to our area’s overall resilience in the face of a changing climate. To plant the trees, we will install 2 median strips in the centre of the street, which will also help calm traffic.

Plan shows new verge garden areas between the footpath and roadway on the western side of the street. Median with trees near the intersection with Bourke Street. Another median with trees past the bend in the road towards Short Street.

Next steps

We’ll report all feedback and design changes to Council, and will continue to a detailed design. We’ll keep you updated on the progress of this project.
