Proposed licence to Indigitek for 53 Forsyth Street, Glebe

The Permitted Use for the Incinerator premises is “Community Facility”. The proposed licensee, Indigitek Ltd are using the premises primarily as office space and meeting space.  

The plan attached to the Public Notification letter was originally prepared in August 2012 and it has been issued with an error.  The Plan should read “Community Facility” over the premises for licence not Function Centre.

The City intends to offer an extension to Indigitek’s short term licence until June 2022.

The premise's capacity is 20 people. The proposed licensee, Indigitek’s primary use is as an office / meeting space.

Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm.

What parking arrangements are proposed? How are the proposed licensees intending to travel to the licensed site – by car, or otherwise?

There are no parking facilities available. Visitors are encouraged to use public transport.

Yes, low impact events showcasing the talents of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals who are working in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Indigitek is a community of like-minded Indigenous people with an interest in tech. Indigitek is a registered not-for-profit organisation and has been running low impact events for over four years. These low impact events showcase the talents of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals who are doing amazing things in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

The Incinerator will be used primarily as an office space for Indigitek.   It provides the organisation with a base in the inner Sydney community and provides an opportunity to have more impact in the community by having a physical space for meetings, gatherings and small workshops. This will have a significant positive impact on their operations. 

Indigitek has set up the space with desks and a break out area for small meetings and gatherings. They will also offer the following interactive displays: a VR gaming setup with the Torres Strait Islander VR experience created by Rhett Loban (Macquarie University); and a computer showcasing Wingaru Education’s innovative educational platform embedding Indigenous perspectives into the school curriculum.
