Upgrade works on Strickland Park, Chippendale

Upgrade works on Strickland Park, Chippendale

New play equipment

We’ll soon start work to improve the park and playground at Strickland Park in Chippendale for everyone to enjoy.

The upgrade includes:

  • a fenced playground with a slide, nest swing, ladder and play panel
  • garden planting with steppers to provide a sensory play experience
  • plenty of new bench seats, a picnic table and feature seating wall
  • retaining the existing trees and adding more plants and grasses.

We expect work to start in July 2020 and take around 5 months to complete, weather permitting. Works will take place from 7.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 7.30am to 3.30pm on Saturday.

You can view the plan of works.

The park and playground will be closed during the works. The nearest playgrounds are:

  • Vine Street Playground, Thomas Street, Darlington
  • Peace Park Playground, Myrtle Street, Chippendale
  • Redfern Community Centre Playground, Hugo Street, Redfern.

We will take steps to minimise other impacts. However, there will be some machinery noise and dust. Parking may be impacted due to access requirements for construction materials and equipment.
