Terms and conditions: Little Sydney Lives 2021

By entering your image(s) into the Little Sydney Lives photography competition, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

  1. Competition Entry
    1. You must have the consent of your parent or guardian to enter.
    2. Your parent or guardian must read your completed entry form and the terms & conditions and must agree to them for your application to be considered.
    3. If your submission is shortlisted, you and your parent or guardian may be asked to attend related media opportunities.
    4. Your parent or guardian must accompany you when attending Little Sydney Lives related activities.
    5. The City will exhibit selected artworks in Hyde Park from 16 September 2021 to 10 October 2021.
    6. The City of Sydney will exhibit the finalists’ artworks on the Art & About Sydney website – www.artandabout.com.au - from 16 September 2021.
    7. Inclusion of any photograph in the exhibition or online gallery is subject to selection by the judging panel. The decision of the panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
    8. Children of employees and Council representatives of the City of Sydney and their immediate families are ineligible to enter.
    9. Entries must be submitted to the City no later than 11.59pm EST Sunday 25 May 2021.
    10. The City reserves the right to cancel or amend this competition or these terms and conditions without prior notice.
    11. Finalists and the overall winner will be notified by phone and email by a representative of the City.
  2. What images can you submit?
    1. Photos can be colour or black & white.
    2. All artworks must have been photographed within the last 12 months.
    3. Entries must be submitted in JPEG (.jpg) digital format with a minimum file size of 5MB and maximum file size of 10MB.
    4. All artworks must be submitted in landscape format.
  3. How are images judged?
    1. The competition is a game of skill, and chance plays no part in determining the winner.
    2. Photos will be viewed and shortlisted for selection by the City of Sydney. A Judging Panel will select the recipients of the Little Sydney Lives prizes. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into with respect for the competition.
    3. Finalists and the overall winner will be notified by phone and email by a representative of the City of Sydney.
  4. Entries must meet the following criteria:
    1. The artwork must be an original photograph taken by a child between the ages of 3 and 12 years.
    2. The photo must be taken in Sydney
    3. The photo submitted must meet the image requirements outlined on the entry form.
    4. The artwork reflects a child’s view of Sydney and demonstrates creativity and effort.
    5. Applicants and their parent or guardian must have accepted the terms and conditions and completed in full the Little Sydney Lives photography competition entry form.
    6. The applicant and their parent or guardian must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.
    7. The applicant and their parent or guardian may be asked to provide a model release form as a condition for inclusion of their artwork in the competition.
  5. Prizes:
    1. The winner of each age group category will receive a gift chosen by City of Sydney to the value of approximately $500.
    2. There are two age group category – Ages: 3 – 7 and Ages: 8 - 12
  6. Large format reproduced artworks
    1. Large format reproduced artworks will remain the property of the City until 31 October 2021.
    2. Following Little Sydney Lives 2021, if not lost or destroyed prior to 31 October 2021 the applicant may wish to organise and fund the collection of the large format reproduced artwork from a location to be specified by the City.
  7. Copyright and moral rights:
    1. The applicant and their parents/guardians warrant that the applicant is the owner of all copyright in the artwork or have obtained all necessary approvals to permit the use of the artwork in the competition.
    2. The applicant and their parents/guardians agree to indemnify the City of Sydney for any breaches of the above warranties.
    3. Any photograph found to be infringing copyright will be immediately disqualified.
    4. The applicants grant the City the right to:
      1. Maintain a digital copy of the photo;
      2. Enlarge and adapt the photo to fit the large scale format of the exhibition;
      3. Reproduce the artwork (or any part of it) in any media format, including but not limited to advertisements, postcards, brochures, posters, television/print media, website and annual reports, including for the purposes of:
        1. publicity and promotion of the competition;
        2. the catalogue of the competition; and
        3. creating a non-commercial archive of the competition.
    5. The City will use its best endeavours to acknowledge the applicant in all publicity for the competition as the creator of the photo.
    6. As a condition of entry to the competition, the City of Sydney and Little Sydney Lives photography competition sponsors are granted an irrevocable licence for worldwide unlimited use of the applicant’s entry in perpetuity.
  8. Disclaimer and Release
    1. The City accepts no liability for any claims of intellectual property infringement of moral rights related to their entry.
    2. Applicants release the City and its partners from any claim with respect to infringement and moral rights related to their entry.
    3. Entrants will not be entitled to claim compensation for any damages to the original photo while in the care of the City or the competition production team and contractors.
  9. Privacy
    The personal details requested will only be used for the purpose of competition entry to Art & About Little Sydney Lives photography competition 2021. Access to the information is restricted to City of Sydney employees and other authorised personnel only. The supply of this information (is required is voluntary. If you are unwilling to provide this information, the City of Sydney may be unable to provide access to City of Sydney services. The Events and Festivals team at the City of Sydney, located at 456 Kent Street, Sydney NSW 2000, is collecting this information and the City of Sydney will store it securely.
