A cycling link between King and College streets, Sydney

Completed

Cyclists ride on a dedicated cycle lane beside a busy street, with pedestrians walking nearby and a large sandstone building in the background.
A person rides a bicycle in a cycle lane at a junction on Macquarie Street, with cars, pedestrians, and historic buildings visible in the background.
A person wearing a white shirt and helmet rides a bicycle along a green cycle lane near a statue in a park surrounded by trees.

What we’re doing

We’re connecting 2 cycleways on King and College streets in the city to create safe spaces for people riding and walking.

The King to College cycleway link works will include:

  • improving the existing shared space in Queens Square by removing the pinch point at the statue of Queen Victoria
  • a new section of separated cycleway on the western lanes of Macquarie Street alongside Queens Square
  • a new cycleway in the southern/western lane of Prince Albert Road connecting to the College Street cycleway.

We will not remove any trees or parking spaces.

All existing traffic movements will be retained.

Why we’re doing this

These works connect the cycleways we completed on King Street in 2022 and on College Street in 2023.

We invited community feedback on the plan to connect the cycleways in early 2023.
