For an item not listed in our catalogue, enquire about receiving it from another collection in Australia.

If your item is available for loan from another library, the delivery to your local branch will take between 3 to 4 weeks.
Some public libraries charge $3.50 an item. Others, including the National Library of Australia, charge a minimum of $30.
When you need to do this
Sometimes we might not have the item you are looking for in our branches. When this happens you can request an inter-library loan.
- Full and temporary library members can access a maximum of 5 inter-library loans at a time.
- If the item has been published in the last 5 years it may be referred to our collections team as a suggestion for purchase.
What you need to do
- Go to the online catalogue
- Log in to your account
- Click the suggest or request tab
- Click the inter-library loan tab
- Complete the request form
- Click save.
You will be notified when your item is ready for collection. You can have a maximum of 5 inter-library loans at a time.
After you finish
If your item is available for loan from another library, the delivery to your local branch will take between 3 to 4 weeks. Fees apply.
Inter-library loans must be returned to a City of Sydney Library.
Fees for inter-library loans
Items requested from other public libraries cost $3.50 while items requested from universities, special libraries have costs starting at $30.
Inter-library loan fees are non-refundable.
