Join the Sydney Lunar Festival community performance program
Your community group could perform on stage or on the streets by celebrating the Year of the Snake in 2025.

We’re inviting performers to be part of the Sydney Lunar Festival community performance program to help us celebrate the Year of the Snake in 2025.
Your group or performance must celebrate the Lunar New Year, one of the cultures that observes Lunar New Year or the Year of the Snake.
Opportunities are available for different types of performances either on a stage or as a roving performance.
Sydney Lunar Festival 2025 will take place from 29 January to 16 February.
The Haymarket Institute will run the community performance program on behalf of the City of Sydney.
Performance brief
We’re seeking applications from groups to participate in the community performance program.
If successful, your group will be placed into one of the following shows.

Applications close at 5pm on Wednesday 30 October 2024.
To apply for the community performance program, you need to:
- complete the Haymarket Institute’s form
- send a short video of your performance in full costume up to 5 minutes long
- attend one compulsory dress rehearsal.
We don’t accept demonstrations or similar activities as part of the community performance program as there's no capacity to provide a venue.
