What we’re doing

We are planning to plant the new trees within the roadway in Durdans Avenue to allow the trees to grow in enough soil and away from overhead cables.

Our proposal includes:

  • landscaped median strips to provide new trees and a green buffer between residential properties on the east and industrial units on the west
  • landscaped blisters in the parking lane, where a median strip is not suitable
  • planting 13 trees to increase shade and canopy cover.

We will also look at whether we can install a continuous footpath treatment at the Gardeners Road intersection to improve safety for people riding and walking in the area.

The proposed median strips would mean some driveways become left-in, left-out only, while the proposed blisters would remove four on-street parking spaces.

The median strips and blisters will also help slow traffic, reduce rat running, and make the street safer.

An aerial map of Durdans Avenue, Rosebery with annotations on the proposed upgrade works including: Investigate feasibility for new continuous footpath treatment; New footpath trees; New landscape median for future tree planting; Three new landscape medians with tree planting; Two new landscape blisters with tree planting; Examples of landscape medians; Example of semi-mature cheese trees to be planted in landscape blisters; Example of continuous footpath treatment.
