Nominate a pedestrian representative for the Local Pedestrian Cycling and Traffic Calming Committee

We’re committed to making walking more convenient, easy, safe and inviting for residents, workers and visitors.

Project Status: Completed

More than 90% of the trips within the city centre are made by walking.

Given the importance of walking to Sydney’s future, the City of Sydney calls for nominations for a pedestrian representative on the Local Pedestrian, Cycling and Traffic Calming Committee.

This is a statutory committee, established under the Roads Act according to administrative procedures set by Transport for NSW. The representative will provide advice about pedestrian matters as a non-voting member of the committee.

To be successful in the role you must have expertise in walking policy, strategy and design, and should be prepared to become familiar with the function of the committee detailed in Transport for NSW’s Guide to the delegation to councils for the regulations of traffic and the Roads Act 1993.

You must understand the requirements for pedestrian facilities under Australia standards and technical directions from Transport for NSW. You must also have expertise in the rights and responsibilities of pedestrians under current NSW road rules and traffic regulations.

You’ll be expected to review reports and contribute constructively at 11 committee meetings each year. This is an unpaid role.
