Our strategic vision
First Nations self-determination, prosperity and wellbeing.
We’re committed to supporting a city where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people self-determine cultural rights, social justice, economic prosperity, meaningful engagement and healing through truth-telling.
The First Nations strategic framework brings all our work relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples into a single, integrated approach.
This is about real people and impacts in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Working to this framework seeks to ensure more effective and meaningful outcomes with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
How we’ll implement the framework
By organising the work into this framework, we can provide clearer direction on the broad cross-section of our services, programs and opportunities that work with First Nations communities. We’re guided by these 6 principles to support stronger relationships and cultural safety:
- This is Aboriginal land
- Listen deeply
- Trauma informed
- Be brave
- Community-led
- Anti-racist
The enabling tools ensure consistency by offering the organisation direction and support in our work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
