Terms and conditions for booking events and programs
We offer free and paid events, programs, classes and workshops.
1. Application of terms and conditions
These terms and conditions apply to all event bookings, cancellations and attendance. By proceeding, you accept these terms and conditions for all attendees under the booking. Terms and conditions may change from time to time. Where this occurs, we'll make every effort to notify ticketholders.
Event costs are in line with our revenue policy: fees and charges, updated each financial year.
2. Booking tickets
Once you have completed your booking, you'll receive an email confirmation. You usually don't need to print your tickets as we'll have a record of names. If you do need to print your tickets, we'll let you know.
If you completed your purchase and reached the order complete screen but didn't receive a booking confirmation or tax invoice, check your junk and spam folders. You can also check that funds have been deducted from your account.
Please email [email protected] for any assistance.
The City of Sydney reserves the right to impose other conditions of sale or limit the amount of tickets that can be booked for an Event. Tickets purchased more than the maximum approved amount for an Event may be cancelled without notice.
Tickets are not transferable. If you can no longer attend the Event, please proceed with a change request through the booking confirmation, online City of Sydney account or otherwise notify the City of Sydney.
Unauthorised resale of tickets is strictly prohibited, including using tickets for advertising, promotion or other commercial purposes. Tickets breaching this condition may be cancelled without notice or refund.
3. Attendance
Tickets to Events may specify minimum or maximum age requirements, suitability criteria or classification requirements (including, for film screenings, the classification determined by the Office of Film and Literature Classification). By purchasing a ticket, you represent and warrant that you, and any person for whom you purchase a ticket, meet the applicable age and suitability requirements.
We reserve the right to refuse entry to any person who does not meet these requirements or where there are any security or safety concerns. We may not grant a refund in these circumstances.
Attendees must comply with any conditions of entry or participation.
4. Refunds
If you registered for an event and are no longer able to attend, please cancel your tickets through our booking system or by emailing [email protected].
Bookings cancelled through the booking system or in writing in up to 7 days before the event may be eligible for a refund.
Any cancellations made outside of the refund period won't be refunded. We may grant exceptions for special circumstances on a case-by-case basis. Refunds will only be made to the original purchaser of the tickets onto the same card used for purchase.
Missed classes or sessions that are part of a course are not eligible for a refund, credit or make-up class.
5. Event changes and cancellations
We make every effort to ensure that events run as scheduled. We reserve the right to cancel any event. If an event is cancelled, ticketholders may be offered a refund or the option to change their ticket to an alternative event. Additional charges may apply if the ticketholder requests a change to tickets of higher value.
We also reserve the right to make changes to an Event, such as rescheduling, changing venues or substituting facilitators.
When an Event is cancelled or changed due to extreme weather or other unforeseen circumstances, ticketholders will be informed by SMS, phone or email as soon as possible.
We won't be liable for any loss or damage caused by the cancellation of an event.
6. Concessions
Concession rates may not apply to all events.
Where you book a concession ticket, you need to show your concession card in person at the Event. If you fail to provide valid proof of concession at the time of your Event, you will be required to pay the full rate.

Attendees acknowledge any venue-specific terms of entry. By registering for and attending any Event (including any online Event) attendees agree to participate ethically and respectfully.
Our programs are built on inclusion, respect, cultural safety and community wellbeing. Disruptive, anti-social, unsafe or inappropriate behaviour, failure to observe relevant cultural protocols, or sharing content without appropriate consent may result in removal from the Event without a refund.
Where attendees appear intoxicated or their participation disrupts others, they may be removed from the venue without a refund.
Filming and recording: Filming and recording of any Event isn't permitted.
Health and safety: Attendees must follow any reasonable requests and directions from our employees or representatives. You must follow event-specific instructions about clothing or footwear or entry may be refused.
8. Children:
Supervision Children must be supervised by parents/carers unless otherwise specified in the event description.
Where the City has advised that a child under 16 can be left without supervision, parents/carers must sign children in and out of the venue, a contact phone number for the program period must be supplied and children must be collected on time.
Health and safety: Children are expected to follow any event specific instructions regarding appropriate clothing or footwear within our venues and should follow any reasonable requests and directions from our employees or representatives. In the event that children do not comply with this clause they may be excluded from further participation and the City may request that they are promptly collected by a parent/carer.
Unwell children: If a child is identified as unwell they should not attend. Parents/carers will be called and must immediately collect any sick children.
Expected behaviour: We encourage active learning and ask all participants respect others learning and follow facilitator directions. We reserve the right to request participants leave an event or workshop if their behaviour is disruptive or anti-social.
Bookings: Accompanying parent/carer tickets cannot be transferred or used for a child to attend.
9. Release
Participants attend their selected Event at their own risk. To the extent permitted by law, the City of Sydney is not responsible or liable for any loss, damage or injury however caused, nor any consequential loss or damage arising from attendance at an Event.
