Self-help groups can book spaces at our community venues for bookings starting 1 July

We've reduced the bookings at our venues to comply with NSW Health orders and support the health and safety of our staff and visitors.

Our community centre services and programs are running at a reduced level and you'll need to book a session to attend.

We continue to offer online programs.

Community venue in Glebe

Franklyn Park Community Space was built around 1868 as a single-storey shop. The dilapidated building has had a makeover with a new roof and floor, an accessible bathroom and kitchenette.

Venue hire information

The community space is located along the border of Franklyn Park, Glebe. It has a retractable awning and folding doors providing access to the outside park area. Inside there is an accessible bathroom with baby change facility and a kitchenette, which can be used to support functions in the surrounding park.

It is available for hire 7 days a week from 9am to 9pm.

Please note, we require 2 weeks notice to make a booking at a community venue that is not staffed.


The working area is 4.6 metres by 2.3 metres or approximately 10 square metres.

Residential area.


Wheelchair access is via a ramp at the front entrance and the toilet is accessible.


  • Bus routes 432, 433 and 444 stop on Glebe Point Road. 
  • Very limited time-restricted parking.

Community space hire fees

  • standard rate: $31.50 an hour
  • day rate (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm only): $190 a day
  • community rate hire: 50% discount on standard hire rate

Before hiring a City of Sydney community venue we ask that you read and understand the conditions of hire.

Additional charges

  • election surcharge: $1,250 an election
  • cleaning fee: quotation available on request
  • security fee: quotation available on request
  • room set-up fee: quotation available on request
  • wedding surcharge: booking fee + 10%
  • lighting rig operator (Glebe Town Hall only)
  • additional site inspection (1 included each booking): $81.50
  • self help groups – 50% discount applies to community/not-for-profit organisations/social enterprise fee – available to self-help and support groups on application only (conditions apply)
