If you’re applying for a City of Sydney grant, you may be able to request value-in-kind support. This means a reduced rate of a usual hire fee.

The information on this page is for those applying for value-in-kind support as part of a grant program application. You can also apply for venue hire or street banner support as standalone grant programs.

What is value-in-kind support

Value-in-kind support is a reduced rate for services that normally have a hire cost.

We offer value-in-kind support for:

  • community venue hire
  • landmark venue hire
  • street banner pole hire.
Outdoor venues are not available for value-in-kind support. If your project includes an event in a public open space, you’ll need to apply through the relevant approvals process. See the guide for events in public open spaces. The fee waiver amount depends on your organisation’s capacity to pay.

How to access value-in-kind support

If you are applying for a grant that offers value-in-kind support, you won’t need to fill in an additional form.

Grants and their categories that include the option to apply for value-in-kind support within their application form include:

*Organisations only can apply for indoor venue hire through the quick response grants.
