- Applications are open year-round until the available budget is exhausted.
- Applicants will usually be notified of the outcome within a month of applying, but sometimes it may take longer.
- Projects must start at least 4 weeks after you apply and finish within 4 months of receiving funding.
About this program
This grants program supports priority communities facing urgent or immediate need. It funds projects that reduce barriers and improve access to opportunities, services and programs.

Funding priorities
Our funding will prioritise projects for:
- emergency support for community, cultural and sustainability projects
- resilience and readiness of communities to respond to shocks
- local residents and teams representing the local area in sporting, academic or environmental fields.
Funding available
Cash funding up to $5,000 is available for each project.
Funding can be used for capital expenditure.
Organisations can also request value-in-kind support for indoor venue hire as part of the grant application. Read our guide for what you’ll need to apply.
Eligibility
✔️Operate in the City of Sydney local area or demonstrate significant benefits to our communities
✔️Meet our general eligibility requirements
You can’t apply for projects that were previously unsuccessful for quick response grant funding in the past 6 months.
Who can apply
These individuals and organisations can apply:
- eligible not-for-profit organisation
- incorporated association
- individual
- unincorporated community group auspiced by an eligible not-for-profit organisation
- partnership
- sole trader.

Examples of past funded projects

- A project supporting local Aboriginal young men to engage in an interstate Indigenous pathways program for cultural development and leadership opportunities
- An initiative that provides foot care kits to people experiencing homelessness, First Nations peoples and asylum seekers, empowering them with resources to support their daily health
- An initiative at a local community centre providing Christmas food‑relief hampers with fresh produce, meat, pantry items and a children’s gift
- A project to replace essential cooking equipment that has broken down to ensure hot meals continue to be served to people seeking asylum at community lunches and events

Priority communities
Communities that may experience heightened inequality and barriers to social, economic, cultural, political and environmental resources, services and support, including:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- people on low incomes
- people renting including social housing residents
- people experiencing homelessness
- people with disability
- people with lived experience of a mental health and/or chronic condition
- people over 65
- young people and children under 5
- new immigrants, non-citizens and refugees
- people with English as a second language
- people of diverse sexualities and genders
- women and girls.
